The Spatial Magic

Interior Design

This is a renovation project of a boutique store located in a famous department store in Taipei. The boutique store is mainly aimed to serve female customers and is strategically located in a bustling urban section. The exhibition campaigns of brand new fashionable products in this boutique can definitely attract a lot of young people who are eager to follow the fashion trend.

The designer, Hao Chen, derived the concept for this design from the mental state of the dressing up process, which is a kind of self-conversation state that wants to radiate the dazzling light just like a charming diamond. The first area of the store features different mirrors with different spotlight effects, creating a spatial rhythm and adding a mysterious touch to the purple carpet. The composition of mirrors defines a lively atmosphere in this space. The long curtain serves as a metaphor for a princess's graceful gown waving in the space, generating a fantastic atmosphere.

In the second area, dedicated to classic brand products, the designer created a stage for young fashion designers to release their newest fashionable ideas. The main showcases are composed of irregular line connections from different pairs of points, resembling expanding ribbons. Elaborate lighting design forms a special light belt made up of irregular line structures. The backdrop of the space is plain gray concrete with a wooden grille in a waving shape, enhancing the contrast effect with the main showcases and expressing the eternity value in the changeable fashion market.

This project serves as a splendid runway to present a unique commercial space with a magnificent atmosphere in the intense fashion market. The whole space with dramatic and contrasting features expresses a unique spatial style that showcases the nature of fashion design.

The project was completed in 2016 in Taichung City, Taiwan, and covers an area of 3627 square meters.

This design was awarded Bronze in the A' Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design Award in 2018. The Bronze A' Design Award is bestowed upon outstanding and creatively ingenious designs that authenticate experience and resourcefulness. Esteemed for incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology, they exhibit strong technical and creative skills and contribute to quality of life improvements, making the world a better place.
